Floral Fashion in Times of War

The Slavic workshop Treti Pivni (Three Roosters) brought back Ukrainian traditional floral crowns, known as Vinoks, as a way to celebrate national pride after the Ukrainian Revolution of 2014 and Russia’s annexation of Crimea.

During pre-Christian era, Vinoks, were used to protect girls from evil spirits, and/or to indicate purity and marriage eligibility. Today the Three Roosters claimed that bringing back tradition is not just a fashion statement, it is also about national pride by keeping their culture alive and a way to bring softness and beauty in times of war and destruction.

These Vinoks have taken over social media and are seen as a incredible way to bring traditions into the modern era.
